In her latest desperate attempt to bully her comprehensive education plans into all schools Education Minister, Caitriona Ruane has reached deep into her ammo pouch pouch to retrieve the last bullet.
Unfortunately for her its a dud. Perhaps she needs reminding from the Permanent Secretary, Will Haire, that teachers decide how to teach the curriculum. That professional responsibility is beyond the dictat of the DENI The Revised Curriculum has the same requirements for the teaching of English and Maths as the previous curriculum. Unless Ms Ruane discloses how she intends to enforce (or should the term police be more apt )teaching methods in every classroom throughout Northern Ireland her threat must be treated with the contempt it deserves. The teachers unions must be forthright in protecting their members’ interests otherwise they too are failing parents and children.
BTW Caitriona where is our letter?
